This is entry-level technical and professional work involving research, analysis, and reporting of statistical data.
Directs questionnaires to private businesses, institutions, individuals, and others from whom data is needed; assembles data for analysis.
Edits raw data for accuracy, completeness, and comparability.
Tabulates raw data and assembles summary statistical information; reviews material for consistency and applies basic statistical methods to its analysis.
Examines reports and abstracts pertinent data in order to show specific activity trends in local offices or other organizational units.
Maintains contact with field personnel explaining the purpose and completion method of standard reporting forms.
Prepares periodic and special reports in rough draft, including summary tables, graphs, charts, and explanatory texts based on tabulated data and analyses.
Assists in the analysis of socio-economic data with respect to employment problems, general economic activity, public assistance, etc.; prepares summary analyses of limited complexity.
Assists in the analysis of operational statistics, vital statistics, demographics, and related socio-economic information.
Analyzes data utilizing computers and statistical software packages; assists in preparing information for electronic data processing.
Exercises judgment in data analysis and trend deviations while following established procedures; receives general administrative direction.
Performs other related work as assigned.
Introductory knowledge of basic mathematical and statistical methods, and their application to the analysis and evaluation of health, social, economic, and other data.
Introductory knowledge of common sources of statistical information, methods of securing such information, and statistical research techniques.
Introductory knowledge of the use of graphic presentations.
Introductory knowledge of the use and capabilities of statistical software packages.
Ability to make routine analyses and interpretations of statistical and socio-economic data, and to present analyses and conclusions with clarity and precision in written and graphic form.
Ability to follow relatively complex instructions.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, outside agency personnel, and the general public.

Four or more years of senior-level clerical (e.g., at the level of Senior Office Support Assistant) experience, including two or more years of specialized work providing clerical support of statistical analysis and research functions.
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 15 earned credit hours in one or a combination of the following: Public or Business Administration, Mathematics, Economics, Sociology, Education, Psychology, Computer Science, or a closely related field, including at least six earned credit hours in quantitative research methods or statistics.
